Prescription &
Refill Policy

At Stillpoint Psychiatry, we strive to ensure your medications are managed safely and accurately.
To avoid errors and delays, please adhere to the following guidelines regarding refills.

To ensure your request is received and processed correctly, we do not accept refill requests directly from pharmacies. History has shown that automated pharmacy systems often lead to communication errors or requests that are never successfully delivered to our providers.

Please request your refill directly through our office using one of the following methods:

  • Patient Portal: Message your provider directly through MyIO.

  • Text/Call: Contact the office directly at 843 884-3070.

How to Request a Refill:

Timeline & Expectations

  • 48-Hour Notice: Please allow 48 business hours for all refill requests to be processed. While we frequently manage to send them on the same day, this buffer ensures you do not run out of medication.

  • Controlled Medications: For stimulants and other controlled substances, patients are required to be seen in person periodically for a follow-up appointment before a refill can be authorized.

In most cases, enough medication is prescribed to last until your next appointment.

If your prescription bottle says “0 refills remaining,” this does not always mean you are out of medication. Providers often send a new prescription with a new prescription number rather than adding refills to the original prescription. Because of this, the best first step is to contact your pharmacy and ask if there are any additional prescriptions on file.

Prescription Refills:

Due to federal regulations, stimulant medications cannot be written with refills.

If your follow-up appointment is scheduled three months away, your provider will typically send three separate prescriptions, each with a different fill date.

Important things to know:

  • These prescriptions will not appear as refills on your original prescription.

  • Pharmacies will only see them as separate prescriptions on file.

  • We can send a maximum of three stimulant prescriptions between appointments.

If all prescriptions from your last appointment have been used, an appointment is required before additional stimulant prescriptions can be issued.

Stimulant Medications:

Medication changes are not made between appointments.

Changes require a clinical assessment and documentation, including discussion of risks, benefits, and informed consent. For this reason, medication adjustments must occur during a scheduled visit.
